Barbara Lorenzo is a current CIMAS/MDC intern working with mentors Marlos Goes and Denis Volkov in the Physical Oceanography Division at NOAA AOML. She is an aspiring data analyst with a strong background in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization, having recently earned her B.S. in Data Analytics from Miami Dade College, where she was recognized as the Outstanding Student in her program. A passionate lifelong learner of earth and space science, Barbara has experience ranging from regression modeling of health data to developing dynamic dashboards in Power BI and Tableau. She has also worked extensively with large datasets and advanced tools like Databricks, strengthening her ability to transform complex data into actionable insights. As a CIMAS/MDC intern, Barbara is eager to contribute her technical strengths and analytical mindset to impactful oceanographic research on the Florida Current. When she's not diving into datasets, she enjoys spending time at Central Florida's theme parks, recharging her curiosity and love for exploration.
